We are passionate about making comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation simple and accessible for everyone.

When Neuropsychological Testing May Help Your Client

Neuropsychological evaluations can be a valuable next step when clinical presentation is complex, when standard interventions have not produced expected progress, or when a clearer diagnostic picture is needed to guide care. Common referral scenarios include:

Young woman sitting on the edge of the dock, water hanging over into the water at the ocean

Diagnostic Clarification

When symptoms overlap across conditions—such as ADHD, mood disorders, learning disabilities, or autism—and a differential diagnosis would help focus treatment.

Person googling anxiety symptoms, anxious about their mental health diagnosis

Confirming or Revisiting a Diagnosis

When a client has a prior diagnosis that no longer seems to fit, or when a second opinion would support more targeted care.

Young boy learning and writing on his assignment in school.

Learning and Academic Concerns

When a child, adolescent, or adult is struggling academically despite adequate effort, and documentation for accommodations (IEP, 504, or standardized testing) may be needed.

Treatment Planning Baseline

When establishing a cognitive and emotional baseline would help inform medication decisions, therapeutic approach, or level-of-care recommendations.

Young gentleman on his phone, smiling with headphones in.

Cognitive or Behavioral Change

When a client is experiencing changes in memory, attention, processing speed, or behavior that warrant a structured assessment.

Person taking her medications from clinician. Blister pack.

Medication Management Support

When a psychiatrist needs objective data to help guide medication decisions or assess cognitive side effects.

What We Evaluate at KMN Psych

KMN Psych offers comprehensive evaluations across a wide range of referral questions. Our assessment battery is individualized for each client based on their presenting concerns, history, and the specific questions you need answered.

Each evaluation is designed to look at the full clinical picture—not just one piece of it—so results can be meaningfully integrated into your client’s ongoing care.

What Providers Can Expect From KMN Psych in San Diego

1. Initial Consultation

Once a referral is received, our team gathers the client's medical and clinical history, symptoms, and concerns. For children and teens, this is done with a family member.

2. Scheduling

We work around your client's schedule and aim to minimize wait times. Insurance verification is handled as part of our intake process. We accept PPO insurance and also work with non-insured clients.

3. Evaluation Day

Testing sessions typically last 4 to 6 hours and include a battery of standardized assessments—paper-and-pencil, computer-based, and interactive activities. Our clinical team tailors the testing battery to the referral questions and the individual's needs.

4. Scoring and Interpretation

Our team scores and interprets all results, comparing performance to normative data and analyzing patterns across the full assessment battery.

5. Feedback Session

Clients will have the opportunity to meet with a member of our clinical team to review results, ask questions, and discuss recommendations. With the client's consent, we're happy to coordinate with you directly to discuss findings and align on care. Reviews are typically conducted one week after the evaluation.

6. Comprehensive Report

A detailed 15-to-20-page report is provided approximately two weeks after testing. Reports include diagnostic conclusions, standardized scores, and specific recommendations tailored to the individual. With the client's authorization, reports can be shared directly with referring providers.
